Transport & Delivery Records
Document outbound food deliveries with batch codes, temperature monitoring, and full traceability for FSAI compliance.
What is SC9?
The SC9 form is used to document outbound food deliveries — that is, food that leaves your kitchen and is transported to external customers. This is an FSAI requirement for any food business that delivers prepared food.
SC9 records create a complete chain of custody from your kitchen to the final destination. Combined with batch codes that link back to your cooking records (SC3), you have full traceability for every delivery.
Who needs to use it?
Any food business that delivers food to external locations. This includes:
- Caterers delivering to events, offices, or private functions
- Care homes with central kitchens delivering to satellite locations
- Schools delivering meals to other schools or community centres
- Restaurants with delivery services or takeaway operations
- Contract caterers supplying multiple sites

What does SC9 record?
- Food description
- Batch code (linked to SC3)
- Quantity delivered
- Use-by or best-before date
- Dispatch time and temperature
- Delivery destination
- Arrival time
- Vehicle/driver details
- Recipient signature
Why batch codes matter
Batch codes are the key to full traceability. When SmartChef links your SC9 delivery records to your SC3 cooking records via batch codes, you can trace any delivered food back to:
- When it was cooked and by whom
- What cooking temperature was achieved
- How long it took to cool (if applicable)
- Where the ingredients came from (via SC1 delivery records)
This traceability is critical if there's ever a food safety concern. You can quickly identify affected batches and take appropriate action.
SmartChef automatically links your cooking records to delivery records. When you create a delivery, you can select from recent batches or enter your own batch code.
SmartChef timestamps everything
From dispatch to delivery, SmartChef automatically records times so you have a complete audit trail. Drivers can confirm deliveries on their phones, and recipients can sign digitally.
